✅ Know Before You Go: 6 Questions to Ask About Any Factory Job

A good job is more than a salary figure. Before you accept, find out:

1. What are the working hours and shifts? Day, night or rotating?
2. How is pay structured, and when is it paid? Get this clear in writing.
3. Is safety equipment provided? Gloves, boots, masks and protective gear matter, especially in welding, spraying and heavy production.
4. Is there a probation period, and what does it involve?
5. Is transport or accommodation provided? Check the commute from where you live.
6. Who exactly will I report to? A clear line of command prevents trouble later.

Asking these questions politely shows you take the job seriously.

💼 Skills That Get You Hired in Factory & Operations

Show these on your CV where they truthfully apply to you:

• Hands-on skills: welding, spraying, sanding, machine operation, packing or assembly.
• Reliability: punctuality and a strong attendance record are often what employers value most.
• Safety awareness: following safety rules and using protective equipment.
• Stock and records skills: counting, checking, recording and basic spreadsheet use for warehouse roles.
• Teamwork and leadership: supervising a crew or working well in one.
• Quality focus: attention to detail and spotting faults early.

✍️ How to Make Your Factory or Operations CV Stand Out

• Keep it simple and clear. One or two pages with your name, phone number, location and work history.
• List your skills and tools plainly. “Arc welding, 4 years” tells an employer exactly what they need.
• Show results where you can. “Packed 500+ units per shift” or “Cut stock errors by 20%” beats a vague description.
• Mention certificates and training. Trade certificates, safety training and technical qualifications count.
• Use correct contact details. A wrong phone number loses you the interview.

How can I stand out when many people are applying?
Apply early, follow the instructions exactly, and make sure your CV is clear and your contact details are correct.

What’s the difference between a factory worker and a factory assistant?
It depends on the employer, but “assistant” roles often support a specific process, such as sanding. Read the listing for the exact duties.

🛡️ Apply Safely: Never Pay for a Job

A genuine employer will never ask you to pay to be considered, interviewed or hired. That includes “registration,” “uniform” or “training” fees before you start. Apply only through the official instructions on each job page, and be careful about sharing sensitive personal information. If something feels off, trust your instincts.
