Description

Sundry Markets Limited is recruiting Inventory Controllers to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure optimum stock availability across its stores. The role oversees inventory control, stock analysis, and variance investigation, and provides insights that support replenishment, reduce losses, improve stock turnover, and raise operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP/POS system
• Monitor all inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, sales, returns, adjustments, write-offs, and stock conversions
• Ensure all stock movements are authorized and documented, and verify transfers between stores, warehouses, and departments
• Monitor inventory levels for optimum availability while minimizing overstock, and ensure timely replenishment based on approved stock levels
• Analyze inventory performance and trends affecting availability and profitability, and recommend ways to improve stock turnover
• Identify fast-moving, slow-moving, dormant, obsolete, and excess inventory, and recommend markdowns, transfers, promotions, or liquidation where necessary
• Monitor product availability to reduce stock-outs and lost sales
• Support demand forecasting using sales history, seasonal trends, and promotional activities
• Recommend ways to optimize inventory investment and improve working capital use
• Reconcile physical inventory against system records daily, investigate discrepancies, and take corrective action
• Review adjustment reports and validate corrections before approval, keeping complete supporting documentation
• Plan and coordinate daily cycle counts and periodic departmental stock counts
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual physical inventory exercises
• Monitor shrinkage and identify root causes, working with Internal Audit and Loss Prevention to strengthen controls

Requirements

• B.Sc./HND in Supply Chain Management or a related field
• NYSC discharge certificate, exemption certificate, or exclusion letter
• Proven experience as a stock controller or in a similar retail role (FMCG experience preferred)
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret consumer data and market trends
• Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, inventory management, and forecasting
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to train and mentor junior team members
