Key Responsibilities for This Product Manager Job

• Set up banking products by defining product rules, limits, pricing, transaction flows, controls, and operational processes.
• Own the strategy and lifecycle of banking and financial products from development to launch, growth, optimization, and retention.
• Manage product revenue, pricing, costs, margins, profitability, transaction volumes, and overall financial performance.
• Develop strategies for expanding products into new African and international markets.
• Work with clients to understand complex financial use cases and transaction flows.
• Work with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to establish compliant product frameworks.
• Maintain strong knowledge of banking regulations, compliance requirements, legal frameworks, and risk considerations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams.
• Work with regulators, payment networks, processors, technology providers, and financial partners.
• Understand transaction processing, settlement, reconciliation, exceptions, reversals, refunds, and payment failures.
• Identify and resolve product, operational, technical, regulatory, commercial, and partner-related challenges.
• Use financial, transaction, operational, customer, and market data to improve product performance.
• Anticipate changes in customer needs, markets, regulations, technology, and competition.

Requirements for This Product Manager Job

• Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in product management or product development within banking, fintech, payments, or financial services.
• Experience owning banking or financial products through development, commercialization, and growth.
• Relevant professional certifications such as ACIB/CIBN or FRM are an advantage.
• Product or Agile certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or Pragmatic Institute are beneficial.
• Strong commercial and financial management skills.
• Experience with product P&L, financial modeling, pricing, unit economics, revenue forecasting, cost management, and profitability analysis.
• Strong knowledge of banking risk, credit, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
• Knowledge of KYC/KYB, AML, transaction monitoring, sanctions, consumer protection, and data/privacy requirements.
