Description

Malaria Consortium is recruiting Research Assistants for the DISBURMA Study, a multi-center retrospective cohort study of severe malaria among children and adolescents aged 0–20 years, as part of the Research Assistant job 3 openings.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend a briefing from the Malaria and Public Health team on the assignment
• Identify severe malaria cases from registers and case notes
• Work with medical record officers to retrieve records and extract data
• Enter the extracted data into the electronic database using the data collection tool
• Capture key data, including patient demographics, diagnosis, clinical presentation, laboratory results, treatment, comorbidities, and outcomes
• Respond to data queries and requests from the project’s technical team and national and sub-national partners (NMEP and SMEP)

Deliverables: a list of identified severe malaria cases in the assigned facility, data extracted from all primary sources, and data submitted from all records.

Requirements

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND with relevant experience, or a diploma in a health-related course with experience in health services
• Currently working in the pediatric or medical ward of the project hospital, as staff or volunteer
• Registered nurse or midwife, or a diploma or degree in health-related sciences, or equivalent experience
• Significant experience in inpatient care
• Experience using electronic platforms to capture and report data
• Familiarity with secondary, tertiary, and private hospitals
• Excellent communication skills

Desirable

• Experience working with government, non-governmental, or academic institutions
• Understanding of diverse audiences and cultures
• Training in health research ethics
