About the Role

The Medical Director Job in Sagamu, Ogun involves providing clinical and administrative leadership for all medical services at the hospital.

Additionally, as the senior-most clinical officer on-site, the Medical Director is responsible for quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.

They directly supervise the hospital’s doctors and report to the Managing Director as the clinical arm’s representative.

Given the hospital’s small size, the role requires a broadly exposed clinician who can oversee general and specialist cases.

Key Responsibilities

Candidates applying for this Medical Director job in Sagamu, Ogun will be expected to:

• Provide clinical leadership across all departments, including Medicine, Surgery, O&G, Pediatrics, Laboratory, Radiology, and Pharmacy
• Oversee day-to-day hospital operations, including patient flow, bed management, and emergency response
• Supervise and coordinate consultants, resident doctors, and allied health staff
• Ensure compliance with MDCN, NMA, and relevant health regulatory standards
• Develop and enforce clinical protocols, quality assurance, and patient safety policies
• Manage duty rosters and ensure 24/7 clinical coverage
• Handle escalated clinical cases and critical incident management
• Liaise with HMOs, NHIA, and insurance partners on service delivery and claims
• Drive continuous medical education (CME) and staff performance appraisals
• Represent the hospital in regulatory inspections, audits, and stakeholder engagements
• Collaborate with hospital administration on budgeting, staffing, and resource planning

Qualifications & Experience

• MBBS/MBChB with a valid MDCN license and 8–10 years post-qualification experience, including leadership or administrative exposure
• Postgraduate qualification (FWACS/FMCP or equivalent) preferred
• Strong knowledge of hospital operations and the Nigerian healthcare regulatory framework
• Excellent crisis management, communication, and team leadership skills
