Description

Airtel is looking for an IT Application Subject Matter Expert to drive full-stack projects as an individual contributor within the OPCO Apps team. The role leads the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Python, Node.js/JavaScript, Flutter, and cloud-native technologies. It covers backend services, APIs, mobile and web front ends, database engineering, and containerized delivery, while setting the standard for code quality across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Application Design & Development: Lead the design and build of backend and full-stack solutions with Python, Node.js/JavaScript, and Flutter. Turn business requirements into technical designs and delivery plans. Build secure REST APIs, microservices, and integrations. Develop responsive mobile and web front ends with Flutter.
• Database Engineering: Design and optimize database solutions across MongoDB, Postgres, and Oracle, including data modelling, query tuning, indexing, and migration.
• Cloud-Native Deployment & DevOps: Drive deployments on Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Engineering Quality: Enforce coding standards, peer code reviews, and automated testing. Produce technical documentation and runbooks. Mentor other engineers.
• Application Management: Develop, enhance, and support OPCO applications, including customer-facing web and mobile apps, internal business applications, APIs and middleware, and microservices on Kubernetes/Rancher.
• Governance, Security & Release: Apply secure coding practices (such as OWASP) and meet telecom, security, and data privacy standards. Follow change and release management processes. Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and track technical debt.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of software development experience
• Deep expertise in Python and JavaScript (Node.js), with hands-on experience building mobile apps in Flutter
• Proven track record on major database-intensive projects
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Postgres, and Oracle
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
• Good understanding of microservices, APIs, CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems and production troubleshooting
• Strong stakeholder management across Product, Technical, IT Operations, Security, and Engineering teams
• Certifications such as CKA/CKAD, AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Developer, or MongoDB or Oracle certifications are an advantage
