Program Overview

The Finance Specialist, reporting to the Finance Controller, will support shared and project activities, ensuring the effective use of donor financial resources to meet project goals.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities for This Finance Specialist Job

• Support delivery of finance and accounting activities through refined approaches in accordance with donor regulations and expectations.
• Offer insight on the development of robust policies, procedures, and systems of internal control frameworks and quality assurance processes.
• Assist with developing and implementing roll-out activities, including developing and facilitating training, capacity building, tools, templates, documents, and knowledge sharing to team members and partners.
• Contribute to reporting requirements, both within the program and other requests as needed.
• Analyze and provide solutions to improve budgeting, monitoring, and program implementation based on feedback.
• Ensure all vendor invoices are properly reviewed for accuracy, correctness, and completeness in line with cost principles, and that payments are made in accordance with TechnoServe policy.
• Participate actively in month-end closure activities and take the lead in reconciling all expenses and inflows relating to the project.
• Take the front line in all financial and accounting matters related to the project.
• Stay abreast of industry and market trends, competitive landscapes, industry dynamics, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
• Participate in the completion of deliverables on time and within budget.

Basic Qualifications for This Finance Specialist Job

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in international development or a related sector, or a Master’s Degree with one year of experience in an international development sector.
• An understanding of international development ecosystems.
• Possession of ACA, CNA, ACCA, or CPA is an added advantage.
