Job Summary

This role offers the chance to work within a world-class engineering team, reporting to the SMTE (Engine) and SMTP (Plant), and gain hands-on experience maintaining and repairing critical marine and plant engine systems.
About the Role: Junior Maintenance Technician – Engine
The JMTE supports senior technicians in maintaining and repairing engines, performing routine diagnostics, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring full compliance with safety protocols. The role also involves documenting findings and maintaining tools and equipment to a high standard.

Key Responsibility

• General Responsibilities:
• Carry out MCR or engine watches as required by the MSUP
• Perform machinery operation, maintenance, bunkering, and other technical and safety duties as directed by the MSUP or SMTE
• Special Responsibilities:
• Maintain full familiarity with rules, regulations, and work procedures applicable to assigned tasks
• Conduct routine surveillance of equipment and installations under your responsibility
• Carry out routine safety checks on equipment as required by the MSUP
• Demonstrate strong working knowledge of the Permit to Work (PTW) System

Certificates & Training Required

• Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch Certificate — STCW 95, Ref.
• Professional Qualifications
  Candidates must meet one of the following pathways:
  Completed combined workshop skills training and approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months as part of a training programme (including onboard training) meeting STCW Code Section A-III/1, documented in an approved training record book; or
  Completed combined workshop skills training and approved seagoing service of not less than 36 months, of which at least 30 months must be seagoing service in the engine department
  In addition, candidates must have:
  Performed engine room watch-keeping duties under the supervision of a chief engineer or qualified engineer officer for at least 6 months during required seagoing service
  Completed approved education and training meeting the standards of competence in STCW Code Section A-III/1
  Met the standards of competence specified in Section A-VI/1 (para. 2), Section A-VI/2 (paras. 1–4), Section A-VI/3 (paras. 1–4), and Section A-VI/4 (paras. 1–3) of the STCW Code
  Very good written and spoken English
