Popularly known as an American rapper, record producer and record executive, Sean Combs was arrested in Manhattan, New York. This happened on Monday night at the Park Hyatt hotel on West 57th Street by federal agents, after a grand jury indictment.
Diddy had lodged at the hotel for several weeks prior to this incident, a source close to the rapper revealed. In a statement confirmed by the U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, federal agents arrested Sean as a result of a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York. He also stated, “We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”
Criticizing the US Attorney’s Office, Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo said he viewed the prosecution as being unjust. Also, he mentioned that the rapper had made the decision to travel to New York while contemplating the possibility of the charges.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“Sean Combs is a music icon, a loving family man, self-made entrepreneur and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire and working to uplift the Black community.
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York a week ago in anticipation of these charges.
“These are the acts of a man who is innocent and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” he said.
Presently, multiple sexual assault charges have been filed against Sean for over decades now.
The first allegation was made against the rapper in November 2023, when Cassie accused him of rape, abuse, and human trafficking during the span of their relationship which lasted for 10 years. However, a day after the case filing, it was settled out of court.
The second case of sexual assault was filed against Diddy in the Manhattan Supreme Court by a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal, who alleged that he drugged and raped her in 1991 when she was a college student at Syracuse University.
That same day, a third woman filed a lawsuit with charges of sexual assault, claiming that Diddy and singer-songwriter, Aaron Hall, raped her and a friend in New York City, over 30 years ago.
A fourth victim appeared in December, accusing three individuals including the rapper Diddy, Harve Pierre, the former Bad Boy Entertainment president, and a third individual of sex trafficking and gang rape at the age of 17.
A former producer and videographer for Combs, Rodney “Lil Rod” filed a lawsuit against the rapper on February 26, stating that the rapper reportedly drugged and sexually harassed him.
Crystal McKinney, a former model, filed a lawsuit in May against Sean, alleging that in 2003, the rapper sexually assaulted and drugged her.
