Job Summary
We are recruiting a Warehouse / Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize warehouse and logistics operations in Port Harcourt. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, cost control, risk management, and logistics coordination to meet productivity and compliance standards.
Job Responsibilities
Warehouse & Logistics Management
- Plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation, and inventory operations.
- Oversee receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
- Manage logistics staff, routes, and shipments.
- Optimize materials flow and inventory control.
- Meet targets for cost, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Control fixed and variable operational costs.
Risk Management
- Minimize stock losses and lead times.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Track inventory quality, stock levels, transport costs, and delivery efficiency.
- Implement asset management and warehouse security measures.
- Develop preventative maintenance and business continuity plans.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Recommend and execute cost-saving initiatives.
- Generate inventory and logistics reports for performance review.
- Analyze data to drive improvements.
- Supervise and train warehouse team members.
- Manage the warehouse’s annual expense budget.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timely delivery of stock to all locations
- Effectiveness of cost-saving initiatives
- Efficiency of risk management measures
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social, Management, or Physical Sciences
- 5–6 years’ experience in warehouse/logistics, preferably in the QSR/Food Industry
- Postgraduate degree in Business, HR, or Supply Chain is an added advantage
- Membership in professional bodies such as CIPS, CILS, CILCS, CISCOM, or Lean Six Sigma is required
Skills
- Strong knowledge of inventory and cost management
- Familiarity with relevant laws, policies, and logistics systems
- Proven experience in warehouse and logistics management
Decision-Making Abilities
- Negotiate logistics costs
- Maintain inventory controls
- Evaluate warehouse security and implement safety procedures
Working Conditions
- Typically 40 hours/week (Monday to Friday); occasional weekend or evening work may be required
- Office and warehouse-based role with occasional physical tasks, including lifting items over 10kg
