Company Overview

OMJ Consult is a leading HR consulting firm based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to join our team as an HR & Admin Officer.

Job Summary

The HR & Admin Officer will support the Head of Human Resources in executing key HR functions. This role requires a well-organized individual who can effectively manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, training, compliance, and general HR administration. The successful candidate will contribute to building a positive and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Draft job descriptions and post vacancies across recruitment platforms.
  • Coordinate candidate screening, interview scheduling, and background checks.
  • Support onboarding activities including orientation and documentation.
  • Maintain an updated recruitment tracker.

HR Administration

  • Manage employee records in both physical and digital formats.
  • Prepare HR documents (offer letters, confirmation letters, warning letters).
  • Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Support payroll processing through attendance and leave verification.

Performance Management

  • Assist with quarterly and annual performance reviews.
  • Track probation periods and performance evaluation schedules.
  • Analyze and compile performance data for HR review.

Training & Development

  • Coordinate the implementation and logistics of training plans.
  • Maintain training records and support evaluation of training effectiveness.
  • Research training programs and service providers.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Respond to employee inquiries and assist in conflict resolution.
  • Support staff engagement programs and initiatives.
  • Help organize staff meetings, events, and welfare activities.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure HR activities align with labor laws and company policies.
  • Maintain records for audits and statutory reporting.
  • Generate periodic HR reports (e.g., headcount, turnover, leave).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of relevant HR experience.
  • CIPM membership or equivalent HR certification is an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • High level of discretion and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision under pressure.
