Job Summary

UNICEF seeks a Contract Specialist to manage procurement and contract processes, focusing on construction projects that support operational and program objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with programs and government counterparts on supply planning and implementation.
  • Conduct market surveys to identify construction and engineering firms and establish long-term agreements.
  • Prepare procurement and project documents, including Statements of Works, Terms of Reference, and solicitation documents.
  • Manage tender processes, including bid preparation, evaluation, contract negotiation, and issuance.
  • Monitor contract performance, addressing any issues and proposing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conduct contractor meetings, and share lessons learned.
  • Develop tools, guidelines, and manuals for contract management standardization and knowledge sharing.
  • Facilitate capacity building with government counterparts and document key procedures.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Contract/Commercial Law, Construction Engineering, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an additional 3 years of experience may be acceptable.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in supply chain management, contract law, project management, or related technical fields.
  • Experience with SAP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Emergency experience in Nigeria is an advantage.
  • Previous experience with UN systems or international organizations is desirable.
  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of another UN language or local language is an asset.
