Job Summary
SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is seeking a Joint Venture (JV) Accountant to join its team in Port Harcourt. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing JV accounting processes in line with company policies, regulatory requirements, and joint venture agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and book Cabotage and NCD payments after extracting values from relevant GL accounts and securing approvals.
- Prepare monthly Cabotage and NCD reports with supporting documentation for NIMASA and NCDMB.
- Monitor and analyze GL accounts (445909, 445911, etc.) ensuring accuracy and timely corrections.
- Extract, reconcile, and process WHT and VAT payments in accordance with JV procedures and local regulations.
- Manage NGN and USD balances for VAT, WHT, NCD, and Cabotage accounts, ensuring proper recoveries and reconciliations.
- Run accrual processes for Goods-in-Transit (GIT) monthly and reverse entries as required.
- Collaborate with Tax and Budget teams on computing NDDC liabilities and follow up on related payments.
- Account for cash calls paid by partners and assess their impact on treasury reports.
- Assist in preparing annual returns for NNPC/Company and Amenam.
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements (CLO_03_NG_A) on a quarterly basis.
- Handle intercompany reconciliations with Company SA and Company PLC; prepare reports and upload to SOX CM+.
- Prepare and post debit notes for proceeds from scrap sales.
- Track invoice processing and follow up with relevant departments for overdue or missing entries.
- Support other accounting tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications
- Solid understanding of upstream oil and gas operations
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
