Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Description
The Senior Engineer (Balance of Plant) will be responsible for monitoring system performance, conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to ensure reliability and efficiency.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular plant inspections to identify defects and perform necessary repairs.
- Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate tasks according to forecasted workloads.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities.
- Oversee all repairs to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain inventory and equipment, ensuring proper storage and availability.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and practices in the work environment.
- Follow up on all repair work to ensure effectiveness.
- Conduct scheduled safety inspections.
- Develop strategies to meet workload demands promptly.
- Supervise, mentor, and train team members.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, and providing technical expertise to the team.
- Delegate maintenance issues to appropriately skilled team members as needed.
- Develop and execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and shutdown repairs when necessary.
- Schedule both internal and external work to maximize planned downtime and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve issues.
- Carry out any other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a First Degree (HND/BSc) in Mechanical/Production Engineering
- Minimum of 7 Years of Work Experience with a Minimum of Three (3) Years on Industrial Size /Steam Turbine Power Generation Pumps, Fans, and Compressors.
- Membership in NATE, NSE, and COREN will be an Added Advantage.
Additional Qualification
- Experience and working exposure to maintenance of BOP and axillaries
- In-depth understanding of BOP Operations
- Sound technical troubleshooting skills
- Appreciable knowledge of safety requirements
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures for maintenance of turbine generators and auxiliaries
- Sound knowledge of power generation processes
- Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spare inventory management
- Effective communication and Reporting Skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
