The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has fully accredited Caleb University’s Law programme and approved an increase in its admission quota from 50 to 110 students, starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.
This milestone followed a comprehensive evaluation by the CLE Accreditation Panel during a visit to the university’s College of Law in Magodo, Lagos, on October 10–11, 2024. The outcome was communicated in a letter signed by Ms. A.O. Osho, the CLE Secretary and Director of Administration.
Olawale Adekoya, Caleb University’s Information, Media, and Publication Specialist, shared this announcement, describing it as evidence of the institution’s commitment to delivering top-quality legal education.
“The increased admission quota reflects the CLE’s confidence in Caleb University’s dedication to providing high-quality legal education. This development signifies a positive step forward for aspiring law students, offering them expanded opportunities to pursue their legal ambitions within a reputable academic environment. Caleb University’s strong faculty, modern facilities, and conducive learning environment position it as a preferred choice for comprehensive legal education,” the statement read.
The university Vice Chancellor Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie called the development “momentous.”
He said, “This is a thing of great joy to us, considering that we have in place young legal geniuses, eminent scholars, and Senior Advocates of Nigeria who are actively contributing, along with the leading lights in the Lagos State Judiciary, to the rapid growth of our Law program. Our aim is to make it the first choice in legal education nationally.”
Dr. Fatima Ogunlana, a senior faculty member at the College of Law, also celebrated the achievement, saying, “The accreditation and quota increase validate the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff. It is an acknowledgment of the high standards we uphold in training future legal professionals.”
The CLE commended Caleb University’s consistent adherence to admission requirements and investments in quality improvement. “In view of the consistent investments in improving Caleb University’s compliance with admission quota over the years, the Council has approved the University’s Law quota from 50 to 110,” the CLE stated.
This achievement underscores Caleb University’s commitment to fostering a strong foundation for students and providing a pathway for aspiring legal professionals to become global leaders in law.
The Law programme joins other fully accredited courses at Caleb University, including Nursing, Mass Communication, Architecture, Computer Science, International Relations, Cybersecurity, Accounting, Business Administration, Criminology and Security Studies, Software Engineering, and Economics—programmes recognized by the National Universities Commission and professional bodies for their excellence.
