We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Accountant with strong expertise in Nigerian tax regulations, accounting practices, and statutory compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance, supporting audit processes, reconciling tax accounts, and providing professional tax advisory services to ensure the organization remains fully compliant with all regulatory obligations.

Experience with lottery and gaming tax regulations in Nigeria will be considered a strong advantage.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal and state tax returns in accordance with Nigerian tax laws.

  • Liaise with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and relevant State Internal Revenue Services on tax-related matters.

  • Support and coordinate external tax and financial audits by providing required documentation and explanations.

  • Reconcile tax accounts and liabilities to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist in the preparation of audited financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.

  • Provide tax advisory services to management on compliance, tax planning, and risk management.

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and journal entries related to tax transactions.

  • Prepare detailed tax reports and financial analysis for management decision-making.

  • Monitor updates to Nigerian tax laws and advise management on regulatory changes and implications.

  • Ensure timely compliance with statutory obligations including VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, and other applicable taxes.

  • Provide support on lottery and gaming tax compliance and related regulatory requirements where applicable.


Requirements

  • Must possess a professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or an equivalent certification.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in tax accounting or tax advisory roles.

  • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and compliance procedures.

  • Experience with lottery and gaming tax regulations in Nigeria will be an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience managing tax audits and liaising with tax authorities.

  • Proven ability to prepare audited financial statements and maintain accurate financial records.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reconciliations.

  • Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar platforms.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
