Description

Proforce Defence is seeking skilled, precision-driven Welders to join its engineering and manufacturing team at its production facility in Ode Remo. Successful candidates will fabricate, join, and assemble structural vehicle components, chassis, armored plating, and tactical vehicle frames to military-grade and automotive industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-precision MIG, TIG, SMAW, and spot welding on structural steel, aluminum alloys, armored plating, and heavy sheet metal
• Fit, align, tack-weld, and assemble chassis frameworks, vehicle body structures, brackets, and protective armor kits to engineering specifications
• Read and work from engineering drawings, structural blueprints, and welding symbols
• Inspect completed welds for structural integrity, penetration, porosity, cracks, and compliance with quality control standards
• Set up, calibrate, and maintain welding machinery, gas regulators, torches, and cutting equipment, following safety protocols and wearing full PPE
• Perform gouging, grinding, and re-welding to repair defects found during quality assessments

Requirements

• NABTEB, Trade Test Class 1, OND, or HND/B.Sc. in Welding Engineering, Fabrication Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgy
• 2–5 years’ hands-on welding experience in structural fabrication, automotive manufacturing, heavy machinery, or defence assembly
• Strong understanding of metallurgy and material science, including weldability, thermal expansion, and pre/post-heating requirements
• Expertise in MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, and Stick/SMAW processes, and knowledge of international welding codes (e.g., AWS)
• Familiarity with armor steel, HSLA steel, and heavy structural joint configurations
• Ability to read complex blueprints, isometric drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T
• Basic knowledge of NDT methods (e.g., liquid penetrant, visual inspection)
• Excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and proficiency in flame/plasma cutting
• Strong commitment to workshop safety
• Professional welding certification (e.g., AWS, CWB, or equivalent) is an added advantage
