Requirements

Interested candidates should have:

• An MBBS degree or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
• Current registration and a valid practising licence with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
• At least 10 years of relevant clinical experience, including substantial clinical leadership or hospital management experience.
• Experience supervising medical teams and coordinating clinical services.
• Strong knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, infection prevention, and healthcare quality assurance.
• Knowledge of Nigerian healthcare regulations and medical ethics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic health records is an advantage.

A relevant postgraduate medical qualification or fellowship is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Medical Officer will:

• Provide leadership and guidance to clinical teams and oversee the quality of medical services.
• Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, patient safety standards, and professional ethics.
• Supervise, assess, and support the development of doctors and other clinical personnel.
• Monitor clinical incidents, patient complaints, medical records, and treatment outcomes.
• Develop and review clinical policies, protocols, and quality improvement procedures.
• Conduct or oversee clinical audits and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, professional licensing requirements, and patient confidentiality standards.
• Collaborate with hospital management and departments such as nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology.
• Advise management on clinical staffing, equipment, supplies, and service development.
• Support emergency preparedness and effective coordination of patient care.
