Job Overview

Job Title: Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager. Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Additionally, Employment Type: Full-time. Remuneration: N700,000 net per month (slightly negotiable). Application Closing Date: 18th September, 2026.

What Does a QA/QC Manager Do?

Before diving into the specifics of this role, understand the function.

Quality Assurance focuses on preventing defects by building strong processes, standards, and procedures from the start.

Additionally, it’s proactive.

QC, on the other hand, focuses on identifying defects in the finished product through inspection and testing.

A QA/QC Manager oversees both sides.

They design systems that prevent errors.

They verify, through inspection and testing, that work meets the required standard before sign-off.

In industries like oil and gas, construction, and engineering, this role is critical.

A single overlooked defect, such as a faulty weld, can compromise safety or delay projects and cost millions.

This particular role is centered on welding inspection and quality management within the offshore industry, meaning the successful candidate will combine technical inspection skills with broader quality management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

The QA/QC Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing a Project Quality Plan aligned with the ISO 9001:2015 international standard and contractual requirements, including detailed QA/QC plans and procedures. (ISO 9001:2015 is the globally recognized standard for quality management systems — it sets out the criteria organizations use to ensure their products and services consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.)
  • Implementing quality management activities in an organized, efficient manner, in line with the Project Quality Plan, the Contract Scope of Work, and ISO 9001:2015.
  • Conducting comprehensive inspections of welded joints and components to confirm they meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including:
    • Visual Testing (VT) – inspecting welds and materials by eye or with visual aids for surface defects.
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – using high-frequency sound waves to detect internal flaws not visible on the surface.
    • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) – identifying surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials using magnetic fields.
    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) – applying a liquid dye to detect surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials.
(NDT methods allow inspectors to detect flaws without damaging or destroying the component being tested — essential in industries where structural integrity is critical.)
  • Maintaining accurate records of welding procedures, inspections, and other relevant quality documentation.
  • Preparing detailed reports on inspection findings and quality control activities for project stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and verifying Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Procedures, and method statements before work proceeds.
  • Monitoring compliance with project-specific requirements and relevant industry codes throughout execution.
  • Defining QA/QC resource needs across different phases of project execution and managing those activities accordingly.
  • Reviewing material requisitions to confirm that contractual quality requirements, specifications, and standards are properly incorporated before materials are approved for use.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with at least five (5) years of progressive work experience in a similar field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Welding Inspector specifically within the offshore industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of QA/QC skills and procedures, including the ability to develop policies and procedures from the ground up.
  • Strong familiarity with recognized industry standards, including:
    • API (American Petroleum Institute) standards
    • ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes
    • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) – a method for identifying potential points of failure before they occur
    • SPC (Statistical Process Control) – using statistical methods to monitor and control processes
    • Control Plans, and prior experience working within an ISO-9000/2015 quality environment
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
  • A strong understanding of welding standards and codes.
  • Experience with quality control documentation and reporting.
  • The physical ability to work in offshore environments, which can involve demanding physical conditions and extended time away from home.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites as required.

Why This Role Matters

QA/QC professionals are the safeguard between engineering design and real-world execution. In offshore and industrial projects especially, quality failures aren’t just costly — they can be dangerous. A skilled QA/QC Manager doesn’t just catch defects; they build the systems and standards that prevent defects from happening in the first place, ensuring that every weld, material, and process meets both contractual obligations and international safety standards.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified candidates should send their CV to recruitment@wendernek.com, using the job title “Quality Assurance / Quality Control Manager” as the subject of the email.

Application Closing Date: 18th September, 2026.
