Key Duties & Responsibilities of This HSE Manager Job

  • Workplace Safety: Maintain an incident and injury-free workplace by promoting the awareness and implementation of Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • HSE Consultation: Provide HSE consultation and support for the Operations Team.
  • Safety Manual Development: Develop drilling/completion/production safety manuals and protocols for the company.
  • Behavior-Based Safety: Support behavior-based safety observation programs by coaching and identifying areas for improved safety behaviors and practices.
  • Contractor Coordination: Coordinate with contractor safety personnel to understand safety performance gaps and implement improvement plans.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit HSSE-related reports as and when required.
  • Incident Investigation: Appoint incident investigation teams to identify root cause factors (Taproot processes or equivalent) when incidents occur, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are delivered.
  • Communication: Communicate pertinent best practices, lessons learned, safety, and environmental alerts to rig/operational staff.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Plan, coordinate, and manage all Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and related activities as required on the Block OML11.
  • Emergency Procedures: Ensure accident and emergency procedures are properly documented and carried out, drills exercised, and all necessary staff certifications held.
  • Document Review: Review/develop, where necessary, contractors’ work method statements, JHA, HSSE plans, bridging documents, emergency response plans, HSE MS, HSE Cases, and work procedures.
  • Audits: Participate in and audit job-planning activities, including Permit to Work, JSAs, and hazard recognition.
  • Safety Committees: Participate in facility Safety Committees.
  • Self-Verification: Conduct monthly self-verification reviews of key HSSE systems.
  • Client Support: Assist the commercial, engineering, and Operations departments in their dealings with clients on Health and Safety matters.
  • Facility Audits: Conduct safety audits of the facility and workplace periodically.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to Senior Management on safety-related subjects.
  • Contract Start-Up Support: Provide safety support and advice, including supervision on preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start-up activities.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform HSSE Risk Assessments on facilities and proffer mitigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or any related Sciences Degree
  • Minimum of 12 years in a similar role in the oil/gas sector (Master’s Degree is an added advantage)
  • Experienced in the use of standard MS Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
