Job Summary

  • Nestoil Plc is recruiting an experienced Technical Manager to join its Marine Support & Logistics Services Subsidiary in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In this role, you will work with project stakeholders to achieve market-competitive project pricing, coordinating across departments and providing expert technical knowledge in cost calculation and ship repair development to support commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibility

  • Project and Technical Oversight.
  • Plan and execute project tasks from start to finish
  • Oversee prompt delivery of all shipyard projects
  • Ensure timely production of technical information for estimation and work scope definition
  • Maintain safety and quality procedures throughout project execution.
  • Commercial and Technical Support
  • Support the Sales, Estimation, and Procurement departments with technical information and inquiries
  • Provide expert guidance on calculation and ship repair development.
  • Equipment and Dock Management
  • Develop and implement a maintenance system for the floating dock and all shipyard equipment.
  • Ensure effective coordination of dock-related activities, including docking, lifting, undocking, and dock maintenance for optimal performance.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of CAT and EMD engines and ship equipment maintenance
  • Regulatory and Class. Society Liaison
  • Liaise with class societies on all technical issues relating to the shipyard and clients
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations applicable to ship repair requirements.
  • Team Leadership
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to the project management team
  • Manage team effectiveness and take corrective action in line with company processes.
  • Safety and Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure SSDD Company Safety Policies and Procedures are always followed
  • Work toward continuous improvement of the safety culture.
  • Identify and implement improvement projects to boost quality, productivity, and profitability
  • Ensure adherence to all quality systems and requirements
  • Close out jobs within timeline, with zero customer complaints.

Requirement

  • B.Eng (Marine Engineering) or a related field, with Certified Marine standing
  • A relevant professional qualification (an added advantage)
  • Solid experience in marine and dock operations
  • Relevant sea services experience
  • A Chief Marine Manager (CMM) certification or a Marine Operations Certificate
  • Good working knowledge of regulations applicable to ship repair
  • Strong understanding of CAT and EMD engines and ship equipment maintenance
  • Adequate administrative and organizational skills, supported by computer literacy
  • High motivation and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Commitment to work outside office hours when required
  • Solid knowledge of the maritime industry, including shipping and environmental laws and regulations
  • Ability to work well in a team and across departments
  • Well-established work experience in a related field and discipline
