Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Engineering Lead to oversee and deliver engineering activities across the oil and gas value chain. The role ensures engineering deliverables meet safety, quality, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements. The Engineering Lead will provide technical leadership across disciplines and manage the full engineering lifecycle. This includes concept design, FEED, detailed engineering, and as-built documentation.

The role also involves strategic planning, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with corporate and asset objectives
  • Manage the full engineering lifecycle from concept to as-built documentation
  • Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and Nigerian regulations
  • Lead design reviews, technical assurance, and risk identification
  • Prepare and manage engineering plans, schedules, budgets, and resources
  • Control project costs and optimize capital expenditure
  • Manage engineering contractors, including prequalification and bid evaluation
  • Ensure compliance with local content requirements and contracts
  • Promote strong HSSE culture and enforce safety compliance
  • Lead risk assessments and support Goal Zero objectives
  • Engage regulators, JV partners, and stakeholders for approvals
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and commercial teams
  • Mentor and develop engineering teams
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Conduct post-project reviews and identify efficiency gains

Qualifications

  • B.Eng. in Engineering (required)
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in oil and gas
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience across full engineering lifecycle (FEED, DED, as-built)
  • Strong knowledge of API, ASME, ISO standards
  • Familiarity with NUPRC and NMDPRA regulations
  • Strong experience in budget development and cost control
  • Multidisciplinary engineering leadership experience
  • Strong risk management and technical assurance background
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with Nigerian local content regulations
  • Strong strategic thinking and value optimization skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead teams
